In November 2014 Facebook identified three offenses that will leave a brand in danger of losing its organic reach.
1. Posts that solely push people to buy a product or install an app
2. Posts that push people to enter promotions and sweepstakes with no real context
3. Posts that reuse the same exact content from ads.
So now we need to figure out how to best benefit your brand with this new platform.
1. Don’t ask people to buy or install: Don’t cloud your copy with excessive calls to action. Take advantage of the visual and educate the customers, maybe share an inspiring quote or include a diagram of how your product works. Make sure to include a URL or address or phone number, and if you did your job, the sales will come.
2. Don’t limit yourself: Page posts should be relevant and meaningful, not a sales pitch and directionless. Never ask people to act within a tight window and never ask people to buy or install.
3. Don’t act like an ad: If you want to put up an ad, you need to pay for it. If you want to simply make organic go farther you need to spend the time building relationships with fans and sharing status updates, photos and videos.
Bottom line is take the time to build a community around your brand. Direct fans to compelling topics that matter to them. When you are ready to advertise on Facebook, contact us and we will show you the way.
