Justin Cener here with a quick video on how to do bulk editing of your products inside of Shopify. Bulk editing is perfect when you have multiple variants on your product and don’t want to sit there editing each one individually.
There’s a couple ways to do it…
The old fashioned way is to click “Export” on the product page which creates a .CSV file for Microsoft Excel. You’ll be able to go into Excel and make edits to all of your products, in spreadsheet form. You’ll see different columns for things like price and weight. Simply change the values and “Import” the .CSV file back into Shopify via your Products Page.
The significantly quicker way is to edit the product directly on Shopify.
First, click into the edit page of the product you want to bulk edit. Scroll down to the “Variants” section and click the box which reads “Select all variants” to check off all variants to be edited. Now, you’ll click “Edit variants” which brings us to a page similar to Microsoft Excel. For the purpose of bulk editing, this is the exact same thing you’d be doing in Excel. You’d have the same columns and be able to change things – this time, it’s just all self-contained right inside your Shopify Dashboard.
There are additional columns that you can add, so first click Add More Fields to see the other options of what you can bulk edit. Let’s say we wanted to change the weights to be uniform. If you want to change the weight to 1 oz, simply enter in the value in the weight column. Copy and paste your way through each column until you’ve updated the product as you see fit.
Next, just save the product, and Shopify will refresh the page and update all bulk edits at once. Once it’s done, it’ll give you a message that it’s complete. Super quick, super easy, and you’ll never have to leave your Shopify store.
